Historic 1776 Declaration Copy Rides as Rare Cargo on Tall Ships’ Lead Vessel

The USCGC Eagle is leading the parade of tall ships during America’s 250th birthday celebrations. Onboard, the vessel carries a rare 1776 printing of the Declaration of Independence.

This historic document is one of only a few surviving copies from the original print run. It will be displayed at select events along the parade route.

The Eagle, a U.S. Coast Guard barque, serves as a training ship for future officers. Its participation marks a key moment in the national festivities.

The 1776 printing was discovered in a private collection years ago. Experts confirmed its authenticity after extensive analysis.

This artifact adds significant historical weight to the tall ships procession. Officials note it connects modern celebrations directly to the nation’s founding.

The parade includes dozens of sailing vessels from the U.S. and other countries. Spectators will see the Eagle take the lead position.

Security around the document remains tight throughout its journey. The Coast Guard coordinates closely with the National Archives.

The rare printing offers a tangible link to 1776. Viewers can witness a piece of history while enjoying the maritime display.

This combination of naval tradition and historical rarity defines the 250th anniversary events. The Eagle’s cargo underscores the solemnity of the occasion.
