A man accused of impersonating a federal immigration agent at a Miami polling site now faces felony charges. Danilo Alves Silva allegedly wore an Immigration and Customs Enforcement costume during the Brazilian presidential election.
Authorities say Silva purchased the outfit from Amazon before arriving at the polling location. The incident occurred as voters cast ballots in Brazil’s national election.
Witnesses reported seeing a man in ICE-style gear at the site. Election workers grew suspicious and contacted law enforcement.
Officers arrested Silva without incident. He has been charged with impersonating a federal officer, a felony offense.
The costume resembled official ICE uniforms but was a commercially sold replica. Prosecutors say wearing it at a polling place intimidated voters.
Brazilian election officials condemned any attempt to disrupt voting. Local authorities increased security at polling sites following the report.
Silva is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks. If convicted, he could face prison time and fines.
