Formlabs Launches $699 Form Studio 1: A Beginner-Friendly 3D Printer for Everyday Homes

Formlabs has introduced a new 3D printer aimed at everyday users rather than professionals. The device is called the Form Studio 1. It focuses on simplicity, compact size, and lower cost.

The printer costs $699. It is designed to sit on a standard desk without taking up much room. This makes it accessible for home offices and small workspaces.

Unlike many resin printers, the Form Studio 1 produces minimal odor during operation. Users report only a slight smell. This reduces the need for special ventilation in typical rooms.

Formlabs built the machine for people who are new to 3D printing. Setup and operation are simplified compared to industrial models. The goal is to remove common barriers that discourage beginners.

The printer uses resin-based technology. It can create detailed objects with smooth surfaces. This suits hobbies, prototypes, and small creative projects.

Software and hardware work together to guide users through each print. Error rates are lower when the system manages settings automatically. That helps non-experts achieve reliable results.

Industry analysts see the device as part of a broader trend. 3D printing is moving from workshops into everyday homes. Lower prices and smaller footprints drive that shift.

The Form Studio 1 competes with other consumer-friendly printers. Its main advantage is the Formlabs brand reputation for quality. The company is known for professional-grade machines.

Formlabs has not announced a release date beyond early availability. The printer will be sold through the company’s website and select retailers. More details are expected in the coming months.
