Iran War Cost Hits $47.1 Billion as Pentagon Briefs Lawmakers on Rising Munitions Expenses

The Pentagon has told lawmakers that the cost of the Iran war has reached $47.1 billion. The estimate covers spending through Oct. 16.

Bombs, missiles and other munitions made up more than 60 percent of total expenses. This marks the largest share of the war’s financial burden.

The figures were shared with members of Congress in a recent briefing. Lawmakers requested the update as the conflict continues.

Munitions costs have climbed steadily as operations expand. Replacement and resupply efforts add further pressure to the budget.

The $47.1 billion total covers a defined period of military activity. It does not include longer-term costs such as veteran care.

Defense officials have not indicated when spending might slow. Operations remain active, and new estimates are expected.

Congress will weigh the figures as it considers future funding. The latest number gives lawmakers a clearer picture of the war’s price.
