Judge Denies Trump Administration Request to Set Aside California Ballots

A federal judge has rejected an attempt by Trump administration officials to set aside California ballots. The ruling denied the request for immediate action on the state’s election results.

The decision marks another legal setback for the administration’s push to target voting by noncitizens. Officials had sought court intervention to challenge ballot counts in California.

The judge found no grounds for urgent action at this stage of the proceedings. The request lacked the necessary justification for such an extraordinary remedy.

The case is part of a broader effort to scrutinize voter eligibility across several states. Administration lawyers argued that swift judicial review was needed to protect election integrity.

California officials opposed the motion, calling it an overreach without supporting evidence. They maintained that state election procedures already include safeguards against noncitizen voting.

Legal analysts note that the ruling does not end the dispute entirely. Further filings and appeals remain possible as the case develops.

The administration has pursued similar challenges in other jurisdictions with mixed results. Courts have generally required specific proof of irregularities before granting relief.
