Senate GOP Prepares to Cut Ballroom Funding From Immigration Enforcement Bill

Senate Republicans are expected to remove funding for a new ballroom from their immigration enforcement bill. Several party members objected to including the money in the measure.

The bill is a top priority for the GOP and will be pushed through on a party-line vote. Republicans hold a narrow majority in the Senate.

Opposition to the ballroom funds came from within the party’s own ranks. Some senators argued the spending was not related to immigration enforcement.

The ballroom project was originally part of a broader package. Critics said it was an unnecessary expense that distracted from the bill’s core mission.

Removing the funds is seen as a compromise to secure enough votes for passage. Leaders aim to present a clean, focused piece of legislation.

The revised bill is expected to advance with greater party unity. Negotiations are ongoing to finalize the language before a vote.

Lawmakers are under pressure to act on immigration enforcement. The final version is likely to be stripped of any non-essential items.
