Apple AirPods 5 Review: Noise Cancellation for Everyone, Pro Still on Top

Apple has made active noise cancellation a standard feature across its entire AirPods lineup. The move marks a significant shift for the company’s audio strategy, bringing premium features to more affordable models. Buyers no longer need to pay extra for noise cancellation.

The standard AirPods now offer solid noise cancellation for everyday situations. Commutes, office environments, and air travel benefit from the added isolation. Performance falls short of the AirPods Pro 3, but the gap has narrowed considerably.

Sound quality remains balanced and clear across most music genres. Bass response feels fuller than previous generations, though audiophiles may still prefer the Pro model. Vocal clarity and midrange accuracy stand out during calls and podcasts.

Battery life holds up through a full workday with noise cancellation enabled. Charging via the case adds several additional hours of playback. Heavy users will still need to charge nightly.

The Pro model justifies its higher price for demanding listeners and frequent travelers. Adaptive audio and superior transparency mode remain exclusive to the Pro tier. Fit and seal also improve noise isolation on the premium version.

Casual users will find the standard AirPods offer excellent value at their price point. The feature gap between standard and Pro models has shrunk meaningfully. Most buyers will be satisfied with the standard model’s performance.

Apple has closed the distance between its tiers without eliminating the distinction entirely. The standard AirPods deliver strong everyday performance at a lower cost. The Pro model still wins for those who want the best possible experience.
