King Charles and Queen Camilla Host Off-the-Record Garden Party at British Embassy in Washington

The British Embassy in Washington hosted King Charles III and Queen Camilla for an off-the-record garden party Thursday evening. The event brought together a mix of Washington’s most prominent figures and lesser-known guests.

The royal couple mingled with diplomats, politicians, and local residents on the embassy’s sprawling grounds. Attendees described the atmosphere as relaxed yet formal, with strict rules against recording or reporting the evening’s conversations.

King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived ahead of schedule, greeting guests along a red carpet. The king exchanged brief remarks with several members of Congress, while the queen spoke with military families and embassy staff.

Security was tight around the embassy perimeter, but the event proceeded without disruption. Guests were encouraged to enjoy the garden’s seasonal blooms and traditional British refreshments.

The party marked part of a broader diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening U.S.-U.K. ties. It followed meetings between the royal couple and President Biden at the White House earlier in the week.

For many attendees, the event was a rare chance to interact with royalty in an informal setting. Organizers designed the guest list to reflect a cross-section of American society, not just political elites.

The embassy released no official statements about the evening’s discussions. Officials emphasized the party’s purpose as a celebration of shared heritage and cultural exchange.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to depart Washington this weekend. Their visit has included stops at historical sites and meetings with environmental leaders.
