U.S. Intelligence Warns Israel Likely to Press On with Lebanon Strikes Despite Cease-Fire

U.S. intelligence officials assess that Israel will likely continue military operations in Lebanon despite a newly brokered cease-fire between the United States and Iran.

The cease-fire agreement explicitly calls for an end to hostilities in Lebanon. American intelligence analysts, however, do not believe Israel will comply fully with that provision.

Israeli strikes on Hezbollah targets are expected to persist in the near term. Officials cite ongoing security concerns and a lack of trust in the cease-fire’s enforcement.

The intelligence assessment notes that Israel views Hezbollah as a direct and persistent threat. This perception drives a continued military posture along the border.

The U.S.-Iran deal aims to de-escalate regional tensions. But it has not altered Israel’s calculus regarding operations against the Iran-backed group.

Hezbollah’s recent activities have kept Israeli defenses on high alert. Israeli officials have publicly stated they reserve the right to act against any threats.

The cease-fire’s durability thus remains uncertain. Intelligence reports suggest that further clashes are probable, even as diplomatic channels remain open.

U.S. officials are monitoring the situation closely. They hope to prevent a wider conflict, but acknowledge the limits of the current diplomatic framework.
