Senator Tillis Blocks Justice Nominee Until Blanche Meets Epstein Survivors

Republican Senator Thom Tillis has demanded that Todd Blanche, the nominee for a key Justice Department position, meet with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking network. Tillis made the stipulation during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, where witnesses discussed Blanche’s nomination.

The hearing focused on Blanche’s qualifications and record. Tillis, a North Carolina Republican, pressed for direct engagement with Epstein’s victims. He argued that such meetings are essential to assess Blanche’s commitment to justice.

Blanche, a former federal prosecutor, has faced scrutiny over his past legal work. Critics have questioned his involvement in cases related to powerful figures. Supporters highlight his experience in high-profile prosecutions.

Tillis’s demand reflects growing bipartisan concern over Epstein-related cases. Lawmakers have pushed for transparency regarding investigations and prosecutions. The Epstein scandal has left many victims seeking accountability.

The committee did not immediately schedule a meeting between Blanche and survivors. Tillis indicated he would block the nomination unless his condition is met. Other senators have voiced mixed reactions to the request.

Blanche’s nomination remains pending as the Senate reviews his background. The Judiciary Committee will likely hold further discussions before a vote. Tillis’s stance adds a new layer of complexity to the confirmation process.

Epstein’s network has been a focus of federal and state investigations since his 2019 arrest. Survivors and advocates continue to demand justice. The case has exposed systemic failures in handling sex trafficking allegations.
