“PTA Conducts Mock Auction to Ensure Smooth 5G Spectrum Sale in Pakistan”

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted a mock auction session as part of preparations for Pakistan’s upcoming 5G spectrum auction scheduled for March 10. This exercise aimed to test the bidding system and ensure a smooth process.

Qualified telecom operators Jazz, Zong, and Telenor Pakistan participated in the session. Their representatives joined online to test the specialized auction software.

During the mock session, NERA Economic Consulting, the international consultant assisting the regulator, briefed participants on auction procedures, bidding format, and technical aspects of the spectrum sale.

The regulator stated that this exercise is part of final preparations for the auction, which is expected to enable the launch of 5G services in Pakistan and support the expansion of next-generation digital connectivity across the country.
