Amtrak has shortened travel time between Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seattle for passengers attending the 2026 World Cup.
Travelers can now clear U.S. customs before boarding the train in Vancouver, eliminating a lengthy stop at the border.
Previously, the train would pause for inspection after crossing into the United States, adding significant delays to the trip.
The new pre-clearance process allows passengers to proceed directly to Seattle upon arrival, saving roughly an hour of travel time.
This change is designed to accommodate the surge of fans expected to travel between the two host cities during the tournament.
Amtrak has coordinated with Canadian and U.S. border agencies to implement the new system specifically for World Cup events.
The expedited service is available for a limited time, though officials are evaluating its potential for permanent adoption.
Riders will still need to present valid identification and meet all standard entry requirements before boarding in Vancouver.
Seattle and Vancouver are among 16 North American cities selected to host World Cup matches in 2026.
