The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a close call between two planes at Boston Logan International Airport.
A Delta Air Lines flight aborted its landing on Saturday to avoid another aircraft taking off from an intersecting runway.
The incident occurred when the incoming Delta flight was cleared to land while a separate plane began its departure roll.
Air traffic controllers quickly instructed the Delta pilots to abort the landing and climb back into the sky.
The departing aircraft continued its takeoff without further incident. No injuries were reported from either flight.
The F.A.A. confirmed the near miss and said it is reviewing the sequence of events.
Safety protocols require a minimum separation distance between aircraft during takeoffs and landings.
The investigation will examine controller communications and pilot responses during the incident.
