Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma Primary & Runoff Election Preview: Key Races to Watch

Georgia voters head to the polls Tuesday to select a Republican nominee challenging Senator Jon Ossoff. The seat is a top target for the GOP in the 2026 midterms.

Runoff elections in Georgia and Alabama will also settle several House primary contests. Oklahoma holds its primary elections for state and local offices.

The Georgia Senate race features a crowded Republican field including former football star Herschel Walker. Other candidates include state Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper.

Voters in Georgia will also decide party nominees for three competitive U.S. House districts. Runoffs are required when no candidate reaches 50 percent of the vote.

Alabama’s runoff elections feature two Republican House primaries. These races will determine nominees for solidly Republican seats in the state’s delegation.

Oklahoma’s primaries include races for governor and attorney general. The state’s open seats have drawn multiple candidates in both parties.

Early turnout reports indicate strong interest in the Georgia Senate primary. Polls close steadily throughout the evening across all three states.
