HaloBraid: The New Robot That’s Transforming Salon Braiding This Fall

**A Hair-Braiding Robot Is Coming to Salons This Fall**

A new robotic system named HaloBraid will arrive in salons this fall, promising to cut braiding appointment times in half. The device automates the braiding process, allowing stylists to focus on other tasks while the machine works. Its creator confirmed the timeline to Allure, noting the robot handles complex braiding patterns with precision.

The HaloBraid robot uses advanced sensors and algorithms to replicate traditional braiding techniques. It can create multiple hairstyles, from simple three-strand braids to more intricate cornrows and Dutch braids. The system integrates with salon chairs, reducing manual labor for stylists.

Salon owners will need to invest in the hardware and training for staff to operate the robot. The technology aims to increase efficiency without replacing human stylists entirely. Instead, it positions them to handle consultations, finishing touches, and creative decisions.

Early testing showed the robot works on various hair types and lengths, though adjustments may be required for very thick or delicate textures. The company behind HaloBraid emphasized safety, with built-in sensors to prevent pulling or tangling. Stylists remain present throughout the process.

Booking systems will adapt to offer clients the option of robotic assistance, potentially lowering costs for basic braids. Luxury salons may charge premium rates for hybrid services combining human artistry with machine precision. The rollout targets urban markets first.

Industry professionals remain divided on the impact, with some praising time savings and others questioning the loss of hands-on craft. The robot does not yet handle braiding styles that require intricate pattern changes mid-service. Future updates may expand its capabilities.

HaloBraid’s launch represents a significant step in salon automation, following earlier robotic arms for coloring and blow-drying. The company plans to release pricing and a list of partner salons closer to the fall debut. Interested clients can join a waitlist online.
