AI Was Supposed to Kill Google Search. These Numbers Show the Opposite, Analyst Says

Google continues to dominate search despite predictions that AI would disrupt its core business. Recent data from Evercore ISI shows the company’s market share has strengthened, not weakened. Analyst notes indicate that AI integration is driving new growth rather than causing decline.

The narrative that AI chatbots would replace traditional search engines has not materialized in usage numbers. Google’s search volume remains robust as users blend AI tools with conventional queries. This behavior suggests a complementary relationship, not a zero-sum competition.

Evercore ISI’s analysis points to Google’s early adoption of AI features within its search products. These enhancements have improved result relevance and user engagement. Competitors have struggled to match the scale and accuracy of Google’s search infrastructure.

AI-generated summaries and conversational responses now appear alongside traditional links. This hybrid approach keeps users within Google’s ecosystem. It also creates new opportunities for ad placement and monetization.

Regulatory pressure and antitrust lawsuits pose real challenges to Google’s search dominance. Yet current metrics show no significant erosion of its user base. The company continues to invest heavily in AI research and infrastructure.

Younger users may adopt alternative platforms for specific queries, but overall search habits remain stable. Google’s integration of AI has made its core product more useful, not less. The data contradicts the most dire predictions from tech pundits.

Investors should watch for shifts in query volume and ad revenue in coming quarters. For now, AI appears to be a tailwind for Google search, not a headwind. The company’s lead looks more secure than it did a year ago.
