J.F.K. Airport Launches Ebola Screening for Travelers from High-Risk African Nations

Starting this week, John F. Kennedy International Airport will begin screening certain passengers for Ebola. The new measures target travelers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Uganda.

The screening process is part of a broader U.S. effort to detect potential exposure to the Ebola virus. Affected travelers are being rerouted to select airports for enhanced health checks.

Federal health officials are overseeing the screenings at JFK. The goal is to identify individuals who may have been exposed before they enter the general population.

Passengers from the specified countries will undergo temperature checks and answer health questionnaires. Those showing symptoms or reporting potential exposure will be referred for further medical evaluation.

The initiative comes amid a reported outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. U.S. authorities are taking proactive steps to prevent the virus from spreading domestically.

JFK is one of several airports designated for these screenings. Other facilities may be added as the situation evolves.

Health experts emphasize that the risk to the general public remains low. The screenings are a precautionary measure to ensure traveler safety.

Travelers are advised to cooperate with health officials during the process. Delays are possible, but the screenings are designed to be efficient.

The new policy reflects an ongoing commitment to public health security. Authorities will monitor the situation closely and adjust procedures as needed.
