Blanche: Correspondents’ Dinner Suspect Targeted Trump Administration Officials

The suspect in the planned attack on the annual correspondents’ dinner appears to have targeted Trump administration officials, acting Attorney General Blanche said Sunday.

Speaking on “Meet the Press,” Blanche described writings recovered from the suspect. He said the review of evidence remains in its early stages.

The suspect was arrested Saturday evening before the event. Law enforcement officials have not yet released the suspect’s name.

Blanche declined to provide specific details about the alleged plot. He confirmed that investigators are examining digital records and personal communications.

The correspondents’ dinner proceeded as scheduled under heightened security. Attendees were not informed of the threat until after the event.

Federal agents are working to determine if the suspect acted alone. No other individuals have been taken into custody.

The investigation is continuing, with agents combing through the suspect’s social media history. More details are expected as the probe progresses.
