Novo Nordisk Rebrands to Novo as It Battles Eli Lilly in the $100 Billion GLP-1 Weight-Loss Drug Wars

Novo Nordisk is shortening its corporate name to Novo. The Danish drugmaker announced the change as part of a broader cultural refresh.

The company is locked in a fierce rivalry with Eli Lilly in the weight-loss drug market. Both firms sell GLP-1 treatments that have reshaped obesity care.

Novo makes Ozempic and Wegovy. Eli Lilly makes Mounjaro and Zepbound. Each company has invested heavily to capture a growing share of demand.

The name change signals a shift in how Novo presents itself to investors and patients. Leadership wants a simpler identity that travels across global markets.

Company culture is also under review. Executives aim to speed up decisions and sharpen the firm’s competitive edge.

The GLP-1 market could exceed $100 billion by the end of the decade. Supply constraints and insurance coverage remain key obstacles for both drugmakers.

Novo’s move reflects broader pressure in the sector. Rivals are racing to launch new pills and improve manufacturing capacity.

Analysts will watch whether the rebrand translates into faster growth. The battle for obesity drug dominance is far from settled.
